Wild Pansy

Wild Pansy Viola tricolor

Edgefield, Norfolk, 16 July

Native. Although notionally an arable weed, I have rarely seen this species in an arable field in Norfolk (in contrast to Wild Pansy, which is common). Indeed, it has declined in recent years, especially in south-east England, and this photograph was taken in my front garden, which was agricultural land 100 years ago.
