Bornean Bristlehead Pityriasis gymnocephala
Sukau, Sabah
Genetic evidence places this species in a mixed bag of shrikes and shrike-relatives, with its nearest relatives being philentomas, wood-shrikes and flycatcher-shrikes, but the ‘strawberry-headed crow’ split-off from them a long time ago and merits its own family, Pityriaseidae, which is therefore endemic to Borneo.
