Sickle Medick

Sickle Medick Medicago sativa

Icklingham 15 June

Native. The subspecies falcata, known as 'Sickle Medick' (which always has yellow flowers, as opposed to subspecies varia, 'Sand Lucerne', which has flowers of varied colours), is confined as a native plant to East Anglia, especially Breckland. It is found on chalky soils and sands, and does not tolerate grazing or mowing.
